Helena Hale
BSc (hons) MSc

With an academic background in Psychology (BSc) and Animal Behaviour (MSc), Helena has always had a passion for the human-animal bond and animal behaviour and wellbeing. Her PhD research at the University of Bristol vet school assessed the impact of behaviour therapy and nutritional treatment on dogs with existing fear or anxiety, further supporting the evidence base for best practice in clinical animal behaviour and how welfare can be scientifically measured in dogs. Helena has taught on topics relating to canine and feline behaviour for the Animal Behaviour and Welfare degree, Veterinary Nursing Science degree, and the Companion Animal Welfare and Behaviour Rehabilitation HE course, all at Bristol University Veterinary School.

Helena is working towards achieving accreditation as a Certified Clinical Animal Behaviourist (CCAB) and enjoys being part of and supporting the growing community of dedicated companion animal behaviour professionals through her role on the FABC committee. Helena lives with her husband on their farmstead in rural Wales, along with five cats, an English Springer Spaniel, a small flock of Ryeland sheep and an array of chickens, ducks and geese.
