Committee Member - Welfare Liaison
Emma Barber

BSc Hons MSc

Having grown up being fascinated by animals and their behaviour, Emma has spent the best part of two decades studying and working with a range of species. Starting with her studies at an agricultural college, Emma gained a qualification in Animal Management where her interest in human-animal interactions began. This led her to gaining a BSc (Hons) in Animal Behaviour at Chester University and an MSc in Applied Animal Behaviour and Welfare (Clinical route: with a focus on dogs and cats) at Newcastle University. She is a qualified Puppy School Tutor and is a registered Animal Training Instructor with the ABTC. Emma is also a qualified Level 2 Reiki practitioner for animals and humans and on occasion uses these techniques to aid her work within human-animal relationships.

Having gained her qualifications, Emma is continuing her practical experience and working towards achieving Certified Clinical Animal Behaviourist (CCAB) status. As a candidate member and as welfare officer with FABC she hopes to bring members of our community the support they need in this ever challenging and changing industry.

Emma offers training and behavioural help in the Derbyshire area through her business Calmer Companions. She and her partner currently share their lives with their lively Hungarian Vizsla.
